Annual Fundraising Event

September 27, 2025, at Annapolis Mall, 10 am – 4 pm

Our fifth-annual fundraiser BOOK FAIR will be on Saturday, September 27, at Annapolis Mall. The mall kindly donates its Community Room and Crate & Barrel Court space for this fantastic event. Find us inside the mall near the Discoveries branch of the library.

Find Your Next Great Read!

We’ll offer 1000s of reads in all genres. Books will be displayed on long tables and organized into categories. We’ll have browsable carts filled with hundreds of children’s books!

Paperbacks will be $1, hardbacks $2, or stuff a special edition Literacy Council reusable tote bag with all the books you can carry for $25.

Children’s Book Reading @ the Book Fair

Join us at noon inside Discoveries Library for a reading with J. Lynwood Holmes, local author and owner of Old Fox Books. She will read her 2025 children’s book, Copernicus, about a bookstore mouse that sometimes hitches a ride with customers to places near and far. See more about Copernicus on Old Fox’s Instagram. Stick around in the afternoon for the Discoveries Local Author Fair. From 2 to 4 pm, stop by the library to meet local authors and learn about their latest titles.

Raffle Baskets

Don’t miss our amazing raffle baskets! Tickets will be available next to our checkout station, where you can also browse the baskets. Ticket buyers DON’T have to be present to purchase tickets or win!

We are no longer accepting books for this year’s book fair. Please check back next May, when book fair 2026 plans will be announced. Consider delivering books to Books for International Goodwill in Annapolis if you’d like to donate them now.

A Fabulous 2024 Book Fair — Thank You!

Our fourth-annual book fair was a huge success!

More than 50 volunteers made the event possible, and at least 75 households, neighborhoods, and other groups donated gently used fiction and nonfiction. We sold thousands of books, raising much-needed funds for our free adult tutoring programs.

All of us enjoyed spending time with tutors, volunteers, and students. Holding the event at the mall attracted more support than ever, and we were pleased to promote our mission and services in such a central, well-trafficked location and through local media.

In 2024, we partnered with Discoveries: The Library at the Mall and children’s author Julia Inserro to offer a children’s reading and activity in the afternoon. Many thanks to Julia and Discoveries.

After the event, we donated the remaining books. They were delivered to Books for International Goodwill in Annapolis (BIG), children and families through the Anne Arundel County NAACP, and local Little Free Libraries.
