On July 15, the Literacy Council participated in “Blind Date with a Book Bingo” held at the Crooked Crab Brewing Company in Odenton. Local author C.L. Merklinger organized the fundraising event, and the Literacy Council was selected as the beneficiary.
Fifty people played bingo to win prizes that included books disguised with paper wrapping. Other local authors who appeared at Book Bingo included Jean Burgess, TJ Butler, and Heather Brooks. The Literacy Council’s Wendy Wellington attended and shared information about our work. More than $1,000 was raised to support AACLC’s free adult tutoring programs.
C.L. Merklinger is the author of Interloper — the first novel in the Realms and Realities series, and now Book 2 — Geist — releasing September 22nd at Park Books in Severna Park.
C.L. grew up with an insatiable appetite for reading and all things scary. Inspired by Horror Authors such as Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Edgar Allan Poe, she was also deeply influenced by great Mystery Character Authors such as Lawrence Sanders, Agatha Christie, and Mary Higgins Clark. Following her passions for Horror and the Paranormal, she pulls from her experiences as an empath, which inspired her to write this series. C.L. resides in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland, where she dabbles in photography. Learn more about C.L.’s work at her website, www.novelsbychristina.com.
Thanks to C.L., Crooked Crab Brewing Company, and all who participated!
