SUMMARY:Writing Workshop with Natalie Canavor
DESCRIPTION:Writing the Professional Way:\nTechniques and Tips for Teaching\nA Collaborative Workshop Led by Natalie Canavor\nFebruary 1st\, 9:00 a.m. to noon\nWoods Memorial Presbyterian Church\nFellowship Hall\n\nYou don’t want to miss this opportunity to learn about strategic writing from Natalie Canavor! Seating is limited and this workshop will fill quickly. To reserve a seat for Natalie’s February 1st interactive workshop\, you must email Lisa Vernon at director@aaclc.org or call the office at 410-269-4419. \nThis practical hands-on workshop will demonstrate professional techniques and handy shortcuts to high-impact writing. The presenter\, Natalie Canavor\, developed a system to teach writing based on her decades as a national magazine editor-in-chief\, executive director of communications\, and award-winning journalist for publications including the New York Times\, Newsday\, Communication World\, and a number of professional and business publications. \nHer long-held interest in helping people write better led her to teach adult ed and graduate-level courses in public relations writing at NYU\, as well as frequent workshops for managers\, businesspeople and college instructors. In the last 10 years\, she has also written seven traditionally published books\, including Business Writing for Dummies—third edition now in the works; a college textbook\, Business Writing Today; and Workplace Genie\, a guide to building better work relationships co-authored with a leading hypnotherapist. \nThis will be an interactive workshop. Natalie will show us how she teaches strategic writing with a step-by-step approach that moves from setting goals to audience imagining\, crafting language\, editing\, and proofing. With her\, participants will explore how to adapt the strategies to our students’ needs. The goal: to emerge with a resource of practical ways to help our students improve their writing—and make the experience more fun for both tutor and student.\n
