Free One-on-One Literacy Tutoring to Adults in Anne Arundel County

We have been providing one-on-one literacy tutoring for adult residents of Anne Arundel County since 1977. This tutoring is provided at no cost to the learner.

Our tutors are trained in an “each one, teach one” phonics-based method, emphasizing teaching an adult to read as quickly as possible. Many of our tutors have also been specially-trained in literacy tutoring methods that meet the needs of English Language Learners.

AACLC has been successful due to the dedication of its outstanding volunteers and hard-working students.

Adult literacy opportunities throughout the county are on-going and training workshops for tutors are conducted several times each year.

Our primary goal is to meet our students’ individual needs. Tutoring takes place in libraries and churches, as well as at other public locations throughout Anne Arundel County.
